Have a Nice Trip, See you This Fall

This is a recap of updates outlined in yesterday’s Inside A Blaseball, so if you caught our Q&A live or watched the VOD, nothing here should surprise you. For everyone else, it’s update time!

Blase…fall!

When last we checked in with you all, we’d said that Blaseball would be returning later this Summer. Our launch timeline is now Fall 2022. We have a date in mind for launch and are steadily working towards it. We are also working with some of our partners on projects we can’t wait to put in front of you. You can look forward to more news, projects, and fun as we approach launch.

What Does This Mean For The Discord?

With a clearer understanding of when Blaseball is due to return, the Discord will be slowed down and operating with a more limited set of channels until the return. This is part of the community teams refocusing of the server to function as an extension of the Blaseball website experience, and it will allow the team to focus on large, structural projects that will benefit the community long-term when Blaseball returns. You’ll still be able to visit your teams and chat with fellow fans, just at a slower pace until we’re back with live games!

Full details can be found in the Discord server’s announcement channel. This will not be a full freeze of the server– a core set of channels will still be available, and we have a few Blaseball-specific events lined up over the coming months! In the meantime, the community team will be preparing the space for the 1.0 launch with an eye towards the new fan experience.

Playtest Realm (PTR)

If you were here for last month’s Inside a Blaseball, we talked about our Playtest Realm, or PTR — a private, smaller-scale playtesting environment to try new features we’re developing for the upcoming release. We’re happy to announce that volunteer applications for it open next week!

So, if you’re the kind of person who loves to click around, press buttons, and try to break things, keep your eyes open for that email. We’d love to have your help. If you do not have a blaseball.com account yet, we recommend making one to be added to our mailing list.

Reminder: Unlike the Short Circuits, there won’t be any sort of story — the PTR exists entirely to test new features. It’s a plotless wasteland of buttons to click, with your duty being to interact with everything.

That’s what you missed on IAB! We also talked a lot about Morbius, but that’s not quite as important. We’re still hard at work preparing for launch. In the meantime you can follow us on social media @thegameband and @blaseball and join our mailing list by signing up for a blaseball.com for updates on all things Blaseball.

More soon. We’ll see you for Fall Ball. 👀
