To sleep, perchance to dream (of Blaseball)

Both a black image with white text in Lora font that reads “please wait” and a mantra whispered under hushed breath of The Game Band as we work on the next era

Whew — we did it y’all. The Short Circuits are over. We laughed, we cheered, we fixed a lot of b̶u̶g̶s̶ features. We also learned a lot, both about our team and about the Blaseball community. We wanted to take a moment up top to thank everyone who participated and gave us feedback during these testing periods. You’ve helped shape the future of Blaseball in a very tangible way.

The Circuits were fun and chaotic, as is Blaseball, as is beta testing features. Same as it ever was. They also took a good amount of energy to run. Having learned all we did from the Circuits, we’re now pivoting our full energy into developing the next era. So, we’re going heads down for the next few months to focus on building a new, polished, glorious Blaseball shaped by all our experiences.

This Grand Siesta has been longer than we initially dictated, and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience. We are building and re-building a lot of new things — a mobile app from scratch, the entire website from front to back, narrative structure, election structure, [redacted], a full UI redesign, and a completely different QA and product testing process! That’s not to mention gathering feedback from each circuit, o̶n̶b̶o̶a̶r̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ introducing members of our engineering team to the sim and having the sim judge them worthy or not, and planning for the long-term success of Blaseball as an experience. It’s ambitious, and it will take some time. We think it will be worth it.

Blaseball will continue to be on siesta for the next few months. Our plan is to see you all again this summer.

In the meantime, here’s what you can expect:

  • In the coming months, we will be sending out an email with information on how to sign up for our closed Play Test Realm (PTR). This will be a private, no-nonsense product testing zone where we will QA new features for the era. There will be no story, no determined structure, and a lot of clicking on things to see if you can break them. If this sounds interesting to you, make sure to sign up for our email list at https://thegameband.com/ !
  • We’re closing the Discord from April 4- May 4. No posting for a bit! In short, this is because we’ve been very active in the Discord over Siesta, and moderating a space 24/7 takes a lot of focus. As new features are being built, we want our community team to have time to direct that focus toward Blaseball’s next era. So, we’re taking a month to do some internal server housekeeping, work on the bigger picture, and rest up before launch.
We will still post any updates necessary in the #announcements channel of the Discord.
  • We will take April off from Inside a Blaseball and then continue hosting them once a month until Blaseball returns. March Inside a Blaseball will be unaffected.
  • We are not doing a survey for this Circuit! We received an abundance of feedback throughout its duration and feel we have the answers we need to move forward and learn from it!

For updates on Blaseball, you can follow us on social media @thegameband and @blaseball and join our mailing list. You can join the Discord discord.gg/blaseball or any fan discord subscribed to our announcements channel. You can also intermittently check the website to fill the void within you. Whatever works for you.

Thanks for your passion, kindness, and relentless capacity to shitpost. We will see you soon.
